Keep, sell or captain turns on one fact: the stewards' 40-place drop is for Sunday's Grand Prix, not the Sprint. The sell case is Marina Bay's record from the back; the captain case is 53 Sprint points and 2nd on the provisional Sprint grid.
A drop of more than 15 places means starting behind every other classified driver, under the article the decision cites. The decision says "the next Race": that is the Grand Prix, so the Sprint grid stands.
Qualifying points are kept: he keeps whatever he actually qualifies. The climb from the penalised grid slot then scores a point per place and per overtake (grid penalties, rounds 1–9).
His price, our model's estimate: 61 or more → +$0.3M; 36 to 60 → +$0.1M; 11 to 35 → −$0.1M; below 11 → −$0.3M. He has reached 36 in 5 of 16 rounds.
Caveat: the Sprint grid is provisional until the final grid is published on Saturday, shortly before the lock, and a parc fermé breach could still send any car to the pit lane for the Sprint.
Your call: F1 Fantasy Russell owners can hold him, sell him, or bank his Sprint and Qualifying points and use Final Fix to swap him out before the race. Everyone else can Final Fix him in for Sunday if $28.0M fits, own Mercedes only, or pass. Each chip can be used once a season, and only one per race week.
16 rose, 2 held and 15 fell after Sepang. The F1 Fantasy Mercedes constructor rose +0.2 to $34.0M, the first asset at the cap in 2026, and cannot rise.
The cap: its previous 15 moves were all +0.3; the cap cut the 16th. From here it can hold or fall, not rise.
The floor: Stroll, Perez, Bottas and Cadillac sit at $3.0M and cannot fall.
| Driver | $M | Limits the fall | Avoids a fall | Biggest rise | Avoids-a-fall line hit in 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Russell | 28.0 | 11 | 36 | 61 | 5 of 16 |
| Verstappen | 27.9 | −49 | −24 | 0 | 16 of 16 |
| Antonelli | 27.0 | −8 | 16 | 40 | 15 of 16 |
| Norris | 26.4 | 43 | 67 | 90 | 0 of 16 |
| Hamilton | 24.3 | −2 | 19 | 41 | 14 of 16 |
| Leclerc | 23.8 | −9 | 12 | 33 | 12 of 16 |
| Piastri | 23.7 | 14 | 35 | 56 | 3 of 16 |
| Hadjar | 15.7 | −22 | −8 | 6 | 12 of 13 |
Score below the avoids-a-fall line and the price falls $0.1M ($0.2M for Hadjar); below the limits-the-fall line it falls $0.3M ($0.6M). At the biggest-rise line it gains $0.3M ($0.6M), and $0.1M ($0.2M) in between. Every asset's lines are in the Budget Builder (free with an account); how we work them out: how price changes work.
Caveat: the official text sets no thresholds; these lines are ours. No asset has been through an update at the cap.
Your call: sell the fallers and bank the price, hold for the bands in reach, or ignore price with seven rounds left.
On last-5 average the 2x case is Antonelli, 44.4 doubled to 88.8; his lowest of those five weekends was 28. Verstappen has the best last three, 46.0.
Provisional Sprint grid: Verstappen 1st, Russell 2nd, Leclerc 3rd, Piastri 4th, Norris 5th, Antonelli 7th. The stewards looked at Verstappen overtaking under yellow flags and applied no penalty.
Antonelli was also 7th in Practice 1 and said after Sprint Qualifying that the car is "very difficult, very unpredictable" (formula1.com). Russell, back in the older-specification Mercedes, was fastest in Practice 1.
| Driver | $M | Last-5 avg | ×2 | Sprint pts, 5 Sprints | Worst weekend |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Antonelli | 27.0 | 44.4 | 88.8 | 47 | −4 (R7) |
| Verstappen | 27.9 | 32.4 | 64.8 | 29 | −13 (R12) |
| Russell | 28.0 | 26.4 | 52.8 | 53 | −11 (R10) |
| Norris | 26.4 | 23.4 | 46.8 | 51 | −17 (R6) |
| Leclerc | 23.8 | 19.8 | 39.6 | 52 | −13 (R6) |
| Piastri | 23.7 | 18.8 | 37.6 | 33 | −14 (R1) |
Hadjar and Lawson are not ranked: Hadjar missed R12–R14 (26 and 25 since) and Lawson drove the Red Bull in them.
The 2x Boost doubles one driver's whole weekend in the game's scoring, negatives included; the official text says only that it doubles the score for that Grand Prix.
The x3 Boost does the same at three times (Antonelli 133.2, Verstappen 97.2): our August piece on when to spend the 3x Boost.
Caveat: Verstappen averages 15.2 at sprint rounds against 32.5 elsewhere (N = 5 vs 11); the data cannot say why.
Your call: the highest average (Antonelli), the best last three (Verstappen), or the top Sprint scorer, 2nd on the provisional Sprint grid and at the back on Sunday (Russell).
On last-5 average the cheap targets are Lindblad (13.6) and Hulkenberg (11.0), but they are 2026's two worst Sprint scorers. Lawson ($9.3M) is not ranked: three of his last five rounds were in the Red Bull. In Sprint Qualifying Lawson was 8th, Hulkenberg 12th and Lindblad 17th. Hulkenberg stopped on track in Practice 1 after reporting "something bad happened on the gearbox" (formula1.com), then ran in Sprint Qualifying.
| Driver | $M | Last-5 avg | Sprint pts, 5 Sprints | Race not-classified (of 16) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lindblad | 9.4 | 13.6 | −8 | 1 |
| Hulkenberg | 6.0 | 11.0 | −21 | 4 |
| Bortoleto | 7.6 | 6.2 | 1 | 1 |
| Ocon | 9.3 | 5.8 | 29 | 1 |
| Colapinto | 9.4 | 5.6 | 24 | 1 |
| Perez | 3.0 | 4.6 | 14 | 5 |
The top four cheap Sprint scorers: Lawson 35, Albon 32, Ocon 29, Colapinto 24. On the provisional grid they start this Sprint 8th, 19th, 16th and 11th.
Caveat: Audi, the best cheap constructor on last-5 points per $M (14.39), has the worst Sprint record of the 11 at −30.
Your call: pay for recent form and accept the Sprint record, or take the cheap Sprint scorers instead.
F1 Fantasy at Marina Bay has no Sprint history; these are Grand Prix figures. Pole won 11 of 16 here, and 2026's not-classified rate matches Marina Bay's, 19.3%.
National service (MSS/NEA), as of Fri 9 Oct, 18:18 UTC: "Afternoon thundery showers" on Saturday and Sunday, 24/25–34 °C; for Saturday, "Thundery showers mainly over northern, eastern and western Singapore in the afternoon." No hourly detail.
Open-Meteo models, as of Fri 9 Oct, 18:18 UTC: Sprint window 30–94% rain probability, 0.0–1.0 mm; Grand Prix window 4–35%, 0.0 mm. No promise either way.
Caveat: the last three races here had 4 not-classified in 59 starts (6.8%), N = 3 races, in older cars.
Your call: pay for clean records, carry a $3.0M driver and accept his not-classified record, or spend No Negative on the extra session.
This is the last three-session weekend of 2026, so x3, Limitless and No Negative cover one session more than later rounds.
| Chip | What it does this weekend |
|---|---|
| x3 Boost | Triples one driver's whole weekend, all three sessions, negatives included; the 2x has to sit on a different driver. |
| No Negative | Every negative driver or constructor score becomes zero across Qualifying, Sprint and Race, per scoring category; transfer penalties still count. |
| Final Fix | One change after Qualifying; the newcomer scores the Race only, the outgoing keeps earlier points. |
| Limitlesswhen to use Limitless | No cost cap, unlimited transfers, all three sessions; no free transfers carry to Austin. |
Where the official text does not say it (that the x3 and Limitless cover all three sessions, and that a multiplier also multiplies a negative score), the wording above is ours, from how the game scores a round.
Your call: x3 or Limitless on the last three-session weekend, No Negative for the extra session, or keep every chip.
Before practice, no creator dropped Mercedes outright, but two treated going without it this week as an option, and all four made Verstappen their first-choice 2x.
Caveat: in three of the six videos the penalty was still unconfirmed; three creators read figures off one shared simulation, so none is printed.
Your call: treat it as opinion, tested against the boards above.
There is no pick from us: five decisions and the numbers behind each, then build it in the Team Builder.
| Decision | The numbers that matter |
|---|---|
| Russell: hold, sell, Final Fix, Mercedes only, or pass | Qualifying + Sprint at the five sprint rounds: 21, 16, 19, 21, 17, all scored before Sunday's grid drop. He is 2nd on this Sprint's provisional grid. |
| Mercedes constructor at the cap: keep or sell | 94.2 a weekend at the five sprint rounds, 76.1 at the other eleven; 2026 low 39. |
| Captain: best average or best last three | Antonelli 44.4 × 2 = 88.8, lowest of the five 28; Verstappen's last three average 46.0. Friday: Verstappen on provisional Sprint pole, Antonelli 7th. |
| Cheap picks: form or Sprint record | Hulkenberg −21 and Lindblad −8 over five Sprints; Lawson 35. |
| Chips: now or later | The last three-session weekend of 2026; rounds 18–23 score two sessions each. |
